COMUNICATO STAMPA → Presentazione del progetto artistico Io e Me – Autoritratti nel Lockdown a cura di Cosetta Mastragostino e Mary Angela Schroth a Spazi900: letture, incontri, confronti Giovedì 25 novembre 2021, ore 16:30 presso la Sala Macchia. Saluti di Stefano Campagnolo Direttore della Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Roma. Intervengono Cosetta Mastragostino, Mary Angela Schroth, Claudio Damiani. La Biblioteca nazionale centrale di Roma riprende il ciclo Spazi900 letture, incontri, confronti con la presentazione del progetto artistico Io e Me – Autoritratti nel Lockdown, che si terrà il 25 novembre alle ore 16:30 presso la Sala Macchia. Con l’occasione saranno donati alla Biblioteca i 6 volumi realizzati con il progetto, che ha visto il coinvolgimento di 125 artisti. Il progetto, a cura della Sala 1, vuole essere una mostra itinerante delle immagini che gli artisti hanno saputo cogliere di loro stessi in uno dei momenti più traumatici mai vissuti a livello globale: una pandemia. L’arrivo di un virus sconosciuto ci ha posti nel baratro dell’incertezza costringendoci alle uniche difese possibili: la distanza e l’isolamento sociale, portando tutti noi a condurre una quotidianità molto più introspettiva, confrontandoci senza precedenti con il nostro Io. La pandemia è stata un terremoto che ci ha condotti su sentieri nuovi favorendo un ripensamento del nostro vivere in diverse dimensioni: pensieri, sentimenti, emozioni, riflessioni, paure, perdita della socialità, solitudine, sospensione del tempo, contatti umani e sociali. Siamo stati tutti colti da una sensazione di profondo stupore rispetto al silenzio delle strade, alle immagini delle città vuote, alla solitudine diffusa, alle strade e piazze deserte in tutte le grandi metropoli del mondo. Uno shock che ci ha messo di fronte in maniera inusuale alla nostra intimità psichica e al vissuto più profondo delle nostre relazioni sentimentali, interpersonali e sociali. Il silenzio e la solitudine sono diventati uno spazio vuoto nel quale si sono moltiplicati il disagio esistenziale, l’insicurezza e la paura, della malattia, ma anche del proprio caos interiore, con i suoi contenuti di tipo emozionale e di tipo razionale. L’autoritratto è una maniera per indagare noi stessi, per cogliere particolarità ed espressioni del nostro volto di cui possiamo non essere consapevoli, uno specchio amichevole ai propri problemi di  auto-riconoscimento. L’iniziativa fa parte del programma di Sala 1 “Open-Portfolio”, volto a promuovere giovani artisti, ed è ideata da Cosetta Mastragostino e curata da Sala 1 con la collaborazione di Adriana Camilla Caputo. L’invito a partecipare a questo progetto è stato rivolto agli artisti emergenti e affermati. Le opere sono state realizzate su carta o opere foto e sono state poi inserite in appositi album che potranno essere sfogliati dai visitatori. Mary Angela Schroth, Cosetta Mastragostino
