COMUNICATO STAMPA → In occasione di MòRFOSI, la personale di Salvatore Provino a cura di Antonio Vitale, le sale dell’antica dimora del Silva Suri Museum Contrada Pulce Carrera a Marina di Ragusa dal 19 gennaio al 3 febbraio 2019, accolgono circa ottanta opere realizzate tra il 1962 ed il 2018 dall’Artista siciliano di nascita, Bagheria classe 1943 e romano d’adozione dal 1960, con il Patrocinio della Regione Siciliana Assessorato dei Beni culturali e dell’Identità siciliana Dipartimento dei Beni culturali e dell’Identità siciliana. La Mostra è stata inaugurata dalla Cantante lirica Salvina Maesano che ha eseguito brani tratti dalla opéra comique Carmen di Georges Bizet composta da quattro atti, o quadri come vengono chiamati dal Compositore, su libretto di Henri Meilhac e Ludovic Halévy. La Mostra, a ingresso libero, sarà visitabile fino a 3 febbraio 2019.Un itinerario pittorico che abbraccia in oltre 50 anni di mestiere, Arte, curiosità e sperimentazione, quattro tra i suoi più importanti momenti artistici. Un viaggio singolare nella materia e nel segno che, attraverso il lavoro incessante del pittore, svela la profondità sensibile dell’uomo. Un’Arte alla ricerca dell’uomo, che guarda la bellezza della Natura e che tende a restituire, tra tele e colori ad olio, il corpo mutevole della Vita. La mostra parla al fruitore, tra accenti ed approfondimenti, dell’amore viscerale di Provino per i luoghi della sua amata terra di Sicilia con le sue assurde contraddizioni che la rendono un luogo unico, seducente e maledetto al contempo. Risalenti ad un periodo che va dalla fine degli anni ’50 ai primi anni ’60 sono le Opere che raccontano paesaggi e volti intrisi dai colori agrumati e dalla luce accecante della sua amata Isola, che a volte però conosce le ombre di una Sicilitudine che rende l’isolamento fisico dell’uomo-isolano una difficoltà ulteriore, e non un’opportunità, per affrontare le prove e le durezze della vita. Dal ’65 al ’73 nascono numerose opere brumose dalle pennellate formalmente Espressioniste per raccontarci, sulla pagina della superficie di una tela, l’osservazione amara e dura delle cose del mondo affrontate però con un procedere ideativo che partendo dalla narrazione pittorica della lacerazione insegue e trova la riparazione. Un perenne caos alla ricerca della propria armonia: di un equilibrio. Dal ’74 al ’78 l’incontro con la teoria delle Geometrie non Euclidee di Nicolaj Ivanovic Lobacevskij delle quali, grazie all’intervento dell’amico bagherese Renato Guttuso, avrà modo di approfondirne i contenuti, e da questi trovare gli spunti pittorici, durante i numerosi incontri con il matematico e filosofo Lucio Lombardo Radice. Nasceranno Opere nelle quali … Il segno – curvo – si tramuta in labirinto di superficie dipinta. Dal 1978 il viaggio di Provino alla ricerca della pittura di uno Spazio possibile e credibile trova il suo orizzonte espressivo, talora anche informale, in opere di Astrattismo plastico come ebbe a chiamarle il critico e storico dell’arte Giorgio Di Genova o anche, come ne parla il Curatore della Mostra … Opere dai segni lenti e materia concreta in un continuo mutante stato verso transitori spazi illusori nelle quali non esiste un confine ragionevole o prevedibile tra segno e materia, in un totale armonico e personalissimo confondimento tra testo e contesto. Come scrive, ancora, Antonio Vitale nel catalogo che racconta Mòrfosi: Egli con la sua lunga opera si è reso ladro di nuovi inesplorati spazi, d’indicibili taciuti misteri che, quadro dopo quadro, cercano una soluzione ai continui interrogativi che da sempre folgorano la sua vita e la rendono stretta nella sua pelle, di un animale bambino rimasto perduto nello stupore che nasce dalla bellezza che attorno a noi fluisce e sa regalare sempre nuovi scenari ed ipotesi, di natura e d’umanità, che trovano la sintesi nella natura-umana di cui Provino ostinatamente, e velatamente, sa scrivere attingendo dalla materia della pittura, ricercando tra le miserie di singolari personaggi incontrati ed i bagliori di illuminate persone conosciute, tra i pugni che il mondo sa sferrare e le dolci carezze che una madre sa regalare. La sua vita è stigma di un’Anima inquieta di chi vorrebbe, mai stanco, sempre correre come, puledro nella brughiera, spezzato dal ferro delle catene di regole ed orientamenti, di stili o stilemi artistici precedenti o precostituiti. Le Opere di Provino nascono per essere singolari, immerse nella pluralità discontinua di un’umanità diffusa in cerca della propria voce, del proprio canto, della propria pelle, del proprio nome. MòRFOSI vuole essere un racconto in pittura che comunica un respiro o una trasformazione in atto che, quadro su quadro, afferma sempre qualcosa di forte ed intenso, ma che nel farlo si apre a successive ipotesi. Ogni opera è al di là di sé, altro altrove. Le strade di Ragusa e della sua splendida marina sono state ornate all’inizio del 2019 da giganteschi tabelloni che annunciavano una rassegna di Arte Contemporanea, dedicata a Salvatore Provino. Non è una novità che l’Arte Contemporanea si intersechi con la storia di città e località che parlano da sole per la loro bellezza e il patrimonio culturale che esprimono. Ma è la prima volta che Salvatore Provino presenta il frutto del suo cursus honorum a cinquant’anni dall’inizio della sua attività con una rassegna prestigiosa, curata in ogni particolare, a cui è arriso il meritato successo. Il luogo dell’esposizione costituisce una novità nel contesto della splendida marina di Ragusa, in quanto rappresenta il primo nucleo di un museo di Arte Contemporanea che si estenderà su un comprensorio molto esteso, comprendendo differenti attività economiche interconnesse con quelle espositive e artistiche. Salvatore Provino compie questo passo nella sua terra d’origine alla grande, come si conviene a un Artista che ha dato e continua a dare il meglio di sé nella ricerca di nuova espressività, attraverso le quattro tappe che il Curatore della rassegna ha individuato ed esplicitato. Così, al periodo figurativo degli esordi dove la realtà viene filtrata dall’occhio critico del giovane infiammato di idealità e di aspirazioni esistenziali, segue quello geometrico costruttivista in cui le forme tendono alla conquista dello spazio attraverso la solidità delle forme in essere e di quelle idealizzate ed enfatizzate. La svolta della scoperta della geometria non euclidea porta alla creazione più autentica del Maestro, attraverso la ricerca dello spazio curvo che si presenta in tutta la sua essenza; poi, è la fase dell’astrattismo puro che nasce dall’intuizione dello spazio continuo e del suo espandersi altre i confini, secondo precisi canoni che potrebbero definirsi di surrealismo astratto, legati alla Teoria della relatività di Albert Einstein. Nei quattro periodi ci sono salti di lirismo e di concretezza, di durezza e matericità con leggerezza serica, di foglie leggere portate dal vento primaverile o d’autunno. Paul Valéry ha ragione quando sostiene che … Il faut etre léger comme l’oiseau, et non comme la plume …, perché la materia che diventa leggera si fa poesia e non svanisce nel vento. Così è la pittura si Salvatore Provino, come mette in evidenza questa bellissima Mostra a Ragusa. Ma in ogni percorso ci sono dei momenti che addensano lo stato d’animo dell’artista che si fa sentimento e quindi forma, dando vita all’apparire, a quella morfosi che è la finalità di ogni essere umano che vuole lasciare il segno del proprio stato d’animo. Soffermandosi qualche istante sull’ultimo periodo, oltre alla reazione civile dell’uomo contemporaneo di fronte alle tragedie del proprio tempo, come la morte di migliaia di esseri umani nel Mediterraneo, c’è l’urlo per l’improvviso manifestarsi dell’inatteso. Si veda Dolore secco, una tela recentissima in cui il maestro perviene ad una sorta di sintesi del male di vivere odierno, simile a quello di tanti periodi della storia dell’umanità. Un inatteso grumo di tragicità nell’essere che si manifesta in un punto al centro della tela, attorno a cui ruotano le emozioni, lo strazio, l’impeto della protesta e le azioni della persona umana o di uno spazio materico colpito da un corpo esterno, da una cataratta inusitata, da un’ulcera appena creatasi che rischia di portare metastasi. È la raffigurazione della nostra esistenza, con tutte le infinite variabili che contiene il percorso della specie e dell’universo. Compreso quello che ancora appare nascosto, ma che si sa esistere. Salvatore Provino non ama dilungarsi in argomentazioni filosofiche e speculative, ma il suo pensiero ha da sempre una linearità e una coerenza stupefacenti. Pensiero che si traduce in forme e colori per darsi, per essere in sé. L’artista non intende raccontare niente, perché la pittura è racconto in sé, non ha bisogno di profeti e di demiurghi. E ogni dipinto racconta la sua storia, apparentemente uguale nel suo divenire e svanire, ma sempre differente nella sua essenza. Leggere e rileggere una Mostra di Salvatore Provino è sempre più immergersi nella materia cosmica dalla quale nascono le idee che si fanno pensieri attraverso quella morfosi che fornisce molto opportunamente il bel titolo della Rassegna.
