PROMESSE MANTENUTE

 I bambini sono degli enigmi luminosi … scriveva Daniel Pennac nel suo bel romanzo Messieurs les Enfants, pubblicato poco più di vent’anni or sono. È forse questo, sottolinea Marco Bussagli, il pensiero più profondo che ha mosso la creatività di Antonella Cappuccio, quando ha deciso di concepire questo nuovo gruppo di Opere alle quali ha lavorato fin dal 2012. Ne è venuta fuori una galleria straordinaria di ritratti che coprono molti degli indirizzi culturali, artistici, sociali, di costume, musicali e scientifici a cui l’Italia ha dato, nel secolo scorso e in questo da poco iniziato, un fondamentale apporto. Promesse mantenute è una serie di profili di personaggi italiani che hanno fatto grande il XX Secolo. Còlti, però, nella loro dimensione infantile, quando ancora non si sarebbe potuto sapere né chi sarebbero diventati, né quale carriera avrebbero intrapreso da grandi. In altre parole, quando erano ancora degli enigmi luminosi. È questo il momento magico a cui Antonella Cappuccio ha dedicato la sua felice attenzione, guardando al bocciolo di uomo che poi fiorirà con la fragranza della vita. Così, accanto ai ritratti ci sono spesso oggetti o immagini che qualificano la personalità del futuro protagonista, in una prospettiva di piena realizzazione professionale e creativa, come presagi ed evocazioni del tempo che verrà. Quando ho saputo di questa iniziativa, non più di due anni or sono, mi sono subito reso disponibile a presentarla, gratuitamente (ci tengo a dirlo, anche se è del tutto scontato, per sottolineare la mia totale adesione al Progetto) perché è una grande idea che rivela in pieno la generosità della sua Autrice. Il che, certo, conoscendo Antonella, non mi stupisce. Il suo carattere gioviale e profondo insieme, misto a un entusiasmo irrefrenabile per la vita, la porta istintivamente a donare sé stessa e le sue Opere (presenti, si badi bene, nelle principali collezioni italiane e straniere, pubbliche e private) che finiscono per essere ambasciatrici non solo della sua Arte, ma pure del suo modo di vedere il mondo e del suo ricco universo interiore, di cui quest’ennesimo progetto è evidente testimonianza. Quella di essere bambini è un’esperienza comune a tutti gli uomini, ma non sempre la meraviglia di quella condizione riesce a superare le barriere dell’età adulta per mantenersi intatta come bagaglio di gioia e propellente luminoso per affrontare le difficoltà della vita. Il fatto è che, crescendo, il corpo si modifica e, con esso, il rapporto con la realtà esterna con la quale si finisce per … darsi del tu. Il mondo degli uomini, infatti, è costruito per gli adulti. Gli oggetti assumono le giuste proporzioni solo quando si è dell’altezza giusta, le mani sono sufficientemente grandi e potenti per prendere gli oggetti e lo sguardo può spaziare misurando l’orizzonte da pari a pari, senza dover alzare la testa. Non si pensi, però, che questa sia solo una caratteristica degli ambienti antropici: anche il mondo naturale sembra dimensionato sulla struttura dell’adulto. Lo dimostrano i rapporti con lo spazio aperto dei prati, con le grandi distanze, con le grandi altezze dei monti, con quelle piccole dei fiori e degli alberi, perfino con le proporzioni di animali come il cavallo che possono essere gestiti facilmente da un uomo adulto e non certo da un bambino che incontrerebbe difficoltà assai maggiori. Insomma, il mondo circostante può essere manipolato più facilmente da un adulto rispetto a quanto potrebbe fare un bambino. Tuttavia questo che potremmo definire svantaggio proporzionale, finisce per tingersi di magia e di mistero, offrendo al bambino la possibilità di vivere la sua realtà osservandola da un particolare punto di vista, quello dal basso. Risultano, così, accessibili luoghi e oggetti, altrimenti preclusi all’adulto. In questo modo, il sotto di una sedia o di un tavolo si possono trasformare nell’antro della caverna dei tesori, oppure nella cripta del Castello delle Fate. Quanto detto, prosegue Marco Bussagli, discende dalla particolare conformazione del corpo di un bambino, anche se questo è un termine troppo generico per non essere suscettibile di distinguo e alcune precisazioni. Derivata da una radice onomatopeica che allude all’incertezza vocale, tipica di quella fascia d’età, la parola bambino individua, nell’essere umano, quel periodo che intercorre fra la nascita e l’inizio della fanciullezza, che, tecnicamente, s’identifica con la terza infanzia e parte della pubertà, ossia corrispondente a un arco di tempo compreso fra i sei ed i dodici anni, quando lo sviluppo ormonale porta alla comparsa dei primi caratteri sessuali secondari. È questo il momento magico a cui Antonella Cappuccio ha dedicato la sua felice attenzione, guardando al bocciolo di uomo che poi fiorirà con la fragranza della vita. Questa galleria di bambini, disegnata magistralmente dall’Artista, ci stimola anche a riflettere su quanto sia importante rispettare il mondo dell’infanzia, che spesso viene prevaricato dagli adulti che sembrano aver dimenticato il proprio passato infantile … In questa atmosfera proustiana l’Artista ha continuato a disegnare per mesi su grandi cartoni, da lei stessa preparati con una tecnica che ha reso sensibile il supporto dal fondo fino ai bordi, in modo da dare un tono molto uniforme e inconfondibile a tutte queste Opere. Ritengo quello della Cappuccio sia stato un lavoro importante perché è una testimonianza forte e poetica di come la Storia italiana sia cresciuta proprio attraverso i sogni realizzati da questo gruppo di ex bambini. La prima persona a scrivere di Promesse mantenute fu la stessa Antonella Cappuccio che, con una grafia infantile volutamente imitata e stesa su dei bei fogli a quadretti, espose compiutamente le proprie intenzioni. Per la sua preziosità, il testo merita di essere interamente citato, anche perché è raro che gli Artisti scrivano bene come dipingono e Antonella è una felice eccezione. Diamole, dunque, la parola.

L’infanzia è una costante promessa, afferma così Antonella Cappuccio. Una promessa che si spoglia e si riveste in un grumo di anni intensi e incantati. C’è un momento identificabile nell’infanzia di chi sarà una persona capace di lasciare un segno forte nella vita di una comunità in cui si aprono, forse improvvisamente, alcune parti segrete della mente. C’è una specie di corto circuito, durante gli anni verdi, in cui il Destino, questo mare senza sponde … dove la strada non è chiaramente segnata, ma in cui un orizzonte appare e scompare illuminato di lampi esaltanti, irresistibili e invincibili? Forse sì. Forse, in un breve arco di tempo, consumato tra seduzione e ribellione, si prefigura, nel cuore e nella mente di chi si sente investito, quel sentiero, ancora tutto da bonificare, quel sentiero che sarà la propria espressione, la propria battaglia, il proprio segno, il proprio sogno. L’infanzia non può invecchiare.  È antica, è remota, ma mai vecchia. L’infanzia non soggiace alla decadenza, agli affanni. Sono poche le creature che ne conservano l’innocenza. Resta a far luce, in ogni esistenza, come il più puro dei diamanti. Si rigenera, di periodo in periodo, per dispensare forza e consolazione. Resta come fuoco sempre vivo, sottolinea l’Artista, a ricordare il potere meraviglioso della proiezione nel futuro. Di sé e, ancora prima, degli altri.
